【摘要】:Tensiontestsprovideinformationonthestrengthandductilityofmaterialsunderuniaxialtensilestresses.Thisinformationmaybeusefulincomparisonsofmaterials,alloydevelopment,qualitycontrol,anddesignundercertaincircumstances.Theresultsoftensiontestsofspecimensmachinedtostandardizeddimensionsfromselectedportionsofapartormaterialmaynottotallyrepresentthestrengthandductilitypropertiesoftheentireendproductoritsin-servicebehaviorindifferentenvironments.Thesetestmethodsareconsideredsatisfactoryforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipments.Thetestmethodshavebeenusedextensivelyinthetradeforthispurpose.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthetensiontestingofmetallicmaterialsinanyformatroomtemperature,specifically,themethodsofdeterminationofyieldstrength,yieldpointelongation,tensilestrength,elongation,andreductionofarea.1.2Thegagelengthsformostroundspecimensarerequiredtobe4DforE8and5DforE8M.ThegagelengthisthemostsignificantdifferencebetweenE8andE8MTestSpecimensTestspecimensmadefrompowdermetallurgy(P/M)materialsareexemptfromthisrequirementbyindustry-wideagreementtokeepthepressingofthematerialtoaspecificprojectedareaanddensity.1.3Exceptionstotheprovisionsofthesetestmethodsmayneedtobemadeinindividualspecificationsortestmethodsforaparticularmaterial.Forexamples,seeTestMethodsandDefinitionsA370andTestMethodsB557,andB557M.1.4Roomtemperatureshallbeconsideredtobe10to38x00B0;C[50to100x00B0;F]unlessotherwisespecified.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasseparatefrominch/poundunits.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemarenotexactequivalents;thereforeeachsystemmustbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
